Getting Ready for February

I don't know about you, but I am ready to be done with this freezing cold month of January!  I have some February items all ready to go.  I am ready for President's Day, and Valentine's Day!

I love to put these I Spy graphing pages in my math centers!  They are perfect for all levels of learners.  I have some kids who are able to complete the graph and that is all, other students need to take it to the next level, and look at and compare the results of the graph with the cut and paste page.  And my "challenge kids" as I like to call them, can record the results by completing sentences while looking at the graph results.  You get 1-3 different projects to do with this pack!

Writing this Winter

Good news... my students seem to be back into the swing of things after a nice long break.  One of my big goals for third quarter was to really focus on writing!  My students just were not getting their 2 good sentences on paper,   as I had written in my goal.  We do writers workshop 2-3 times a week, we also have fun little journals to use during quiet time.  But they still were not where I wanted them to be!!!

After a lot of thinking, I decided I had to back up!  They were not ready for 2 sentences!  I made this simple little writing book for them to use each day.  I have been DELIGHTED with results!  Not only are they writing good sentences with a capital letter, spaces, and punctuation, but they are having fun!  I used our Reading Street sight words in this writing book.  Each page has 1 word to get them started.  (And I didn't even capitalize it, they have to remember to do this.)

My plan was to do 1 page a day.  I have several students who asked if they could work ahead.  "You, bet!" was my answer to this!!

100th Day is coming....

Is your 100th day coming up as fast as mine???  I can't believe I have less than 10 days till we celebrate!  We always do a fun little T-shirt project.  Our students design a t-shirt at home, and have 100 items attached to their shirts.  They wear them on our 100th day.  It is always a blast to see what they come up with.  Some of my favorites have been...100 googly eyes, and 100 jingle bells (that one was a little bit annoying, but cute).

I made a fun 100th day pack!  I have some fun things I have used in the past, but it is always fun to have something new and exciting!  Head over to my TPT store to pick this up!
This is the fun little certificate for your students!
A little bit of writing!
A little bit of math!
I have also been looking ahead at February!  My students need a review on their Reading Street Sight words, so I made this fun little I HAVE WHO HAS game for us to use in February.  It has a fun Valentine's Day theme!

Building a snowman and counting by 5's

We were lucky enough to get about 2 inches of snow yesterday.  It looks really pretty, but it isn't enough for my kids to go out and build a snowman with.  Luckily I have these fun little  snowman packs in my TPT store!  Your students will get some much needed practice for counting by 5's and 10's, and building word families, while they build GIANT snowmen.

The finished snowman is about at long as my kindergarten kids!  Look closely in the picture, their is a marker laying next to the finished snowman.  It really is huge!  They have so much fun with these.

This is the recording page for students to write their 5's!

I have this in my math centers.   A couple of my students decided to make up their own challenge.... a race to see who could build their snowman the fastest.  Since there are two separate snowmen to build, this works out great.  After they build their snowman, they get to add the cute accessories.  My girls really love this.  There are also recording pages for students to write their numbers inside of the fun little snowballs so they have something to take home and show their family.
