Five for Friday I love Summer!

I am back into my blog.  It has been months since I last blogged.  I have spent some time this past week reading some blogs and remembering how much I enjoy them, so my goal is to blog more!!

I am linking up with one of my favorites....I am linking up with
Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five For Friday Linky

So this is what I have been up to in July.....
We just returned from a family vacation to Florida!
3 days in Orlando (Universal)
3 Days in the Keys (Tropical Paradise)
3 Days in  Naples (Relaxing)
I loved every minute of it!  To all of you Florida Bloggers out there, I envy you!!!
Nebraska is a great place for a family, but it is NOT tropical.  No palm trees, or ocean breeze here.

The one exciting part of ending our vacation was coming home to
this adorable dog named Cooper!!  We love him so much, and I know the grandparents
were so ready to give him back to us!
I have been working on some products for my store over the past couple
of weeks.  One of my favorite things to make with my kindergarten kids
are class books!
We can never have enough of these.  I start
the first week of school.  Everyone is responsible for one page of the book,
I have an "artist" work on the front cover, we laminate, and bind.  My students
love to read these books over and over during the school year.  I even have
a special canvas bag from Vista Print that I use for sending home a book overnight with
my students.  At the end of the year everyone gets to choose a book to keep!

Back to School Shopping!  I have been doing a little school/classroom supply
shopping this past week!  There are so many wonderful things out there!
One thing I have added to my list for sure are these Mr. Sketch Scented Markers!
This pack was Movie Night Scents- How Fun!  My students LOVED
using the smelly markers
in whole group.  I write a morning message for my student each day.
They circle sight words
with these markers.  I never had any trouble getting volunteers to come
up when these markers were out!

One of my wonderful teammates introduced my to Pigeon Books by Mo Williams!
I must have been living under a rock the past few years.  These books are
just perfect for Kindergarten!  My kids can NOT get enough of them.  Look
at these adorable soft friends (they are sold at Barnes and Noble)
I need to buy these soon!

Five for Friday and Spring is Here!!!

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five For Friday Linky!  Today really isn't Friday, but in my world it is close enough!

Science!!!  I have really been into it this quarter.  My Thursdays were becoming dreadfully long, so I decided to introduce a different experiment each week!  My students have loved it!!!  So have I.
So thankful for Pinterest for my experiment inspirations!
This was our water transfer experiment!  I should have taken the after picture, but things got busy.  My kids were so excited to see what happened with this one!

Rain cloud in a cup!  This was so fun too!  We had 1 cup at each table.  We kept track of how many drops of colored water we put on top of the clouds.  Some our our "clouds" held more rain than others!
Super Science Notebook!  I finally created one for my class to use!  At first I was just stapling paper together, but now I have a much better system for keeping track of our science experiments.  Even kindergarten kids can use a table of contents!  Click here to come over to my TPT store and pick one up for your little scientists!

Spring has finally arrived!  I was able to put on my flip flops this week!  We have warmer days, and I am so happy about this.  Here is some of our spring art that was hung in the hallway for our spring art night at school!

The countdown has begun!  We have 34 days until summer break!  I can hardly wait.  I don't know who is more excited, me or my students!!  I will be using this fun little countdown activity once we get to 10 days left.  You can find this in my TPT store!

Five For Friday and Valentines

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching's Five For Friday!  Okay, so maybe it is Saturday, but my photos really are from Friday of this week!
Have you every made a diorama with your students?  My kindergarten kids absolutely loved making these!  I made the dioramas ahead of time, but they got to do all of the decorating!  This was the perfect way to wrap up our penguin unit, but you can use a diorama for anything!   They even make their own dioramas during free choice time!

We also needed to hang up some art for Valentine's day, since it is next week!  We made these fun little broken hearts!  We used Cray-Pas!  First they colored their hearts.  Then they flipped over the heart and drew 2-3 lines across the heart.  They cut on these lines.  The fun part ways putting the hearts back together.  To make the art more interesting, we left spaces between the pieces.

I have been using this fun little Fix Up book in my classroom! My students are just beginning
to understand editing.  It is so cute!  They are always checking my work for mistakes!

Getting Ready for February

I don't know about you, but I am ready to be done with this freezing cold month of January!  I have some February items all ready to go.  I am ready for President's Day, and Valentine's Day!

I love to put these I Spy graphing pages in my math centers!  They are perfect for all levels of learners.  I have some kids who are able to complete the graph and that is all, other students need to take it to the next level, and look at and compare the results of the graph with the cut and paste page.  And my "challenge kids" as I like to call them, can record the results by completing sentences while looking at the graph results.  You get 1-3 different projects to do with this pack!
Click here to head over to my TPT store and check out my February items!

Writing this Winter

Good news... my students seem to be back into the swing of things after a nice long break.  One of my big goals for third quarter was to really focus on writing!  My students just were not getting their 2 good sentences on paper,   as I had written in my goal.  We do writers workshop 2-3 times a week, we also have fun little journals to use during quiet time.  But they still were not where I wanted them to be!!!

After a lot of thinking, I decided I had to back up!  They were not ready for 2 sentences!  I made this simple little writing book for them to use each day.  I have been DELIGHTED with results!  Not only are they writing good sentences with a capital letter, spaces, and punctuation, but they are having fun!  I used our Reading Street sight words in this writing book.  Each page has 1 word to get them started.  (And I didn't even capitalize it, they have to remember to do this.)

My plan was to do 1 page a day.  I have several students who asked if they could work ahead.  "You, bet!" was my answer to this!!

100th Day is coming....

Is your 100th day coming up as fast as mine???  I can't believe I have less than 10 days till we celebrate!  We always do a fun little T-shirt project.  Our students design a t-shirt at home, and have 100 items attached to their shirts.  They wear them on our 100th day.  It is always a blast to see what they come up with.  Some of my favorites have been...100 googly eyes, and 100 jingle bells (that one was a little bit annoying, but cute).

I made a fun 100th day pack!  I have some fun things I have used in the past, but it is always fun to have something new and exciting!  Head over to my TPT store to pick this up!
This is the fun little certificate for your students!
A little bit of writing!
A little bit of math!
I have also been looking ahead at February!  My students need a review on their Reading Street Sight words, so I made this fun little I HAVE WHO HAS game for us to use in February.  It has a fun Valentine's Day theme!

Building a snowman and counting by 5's

We were lucky enough to get about 2 inches of snow yesterday.  It looks really pretty, but it isn't enough for my kids to go out and build a snowman with.  Luckily I have these fun little  snowman packs in my TPT store!  Your students will get some much needed practice for counting by 5's and 10's, and building word families, while they build GIANT snowmen.

The finished snowman is about at long as my kindergarten kids!  Look closely in the picture, their is a marker laying next to the finished snowman.  It really is huge!  They have so much fun with these.

Click here to find this snowman pack in my TPT store.

This is the recording page for students to write their 5's!

I have this in my math centers.   A couple of my students decided to make up their own challenge.... a race to see who could build their snowman the fastest.  Since there are two separate snowmen to build, this works out great.  After they build their snowman, they get to add the cute accessories.  My girls really love this.  There are also recording pages for students to write their numbers inside of the fun little snowballs so they have something to take home and show their family.
