Five for Friday and the first weeks

I am sooooooooo tired!  These first 3 weeks are tough!  And I have a really sweet class.  Kinders just take everything out of you. (I still wouldn't change it for the world.)  We had a really busy week....

I am linking up with Fun in First Grade Five For Friday

We are learning the sight words I & am.  Here is a really sweet paper they did with a self portrait and their age.  I have a few six year olds, and 15 of my kids are 5.

Another focus this week was FAMILY.  We talked about who was in our family and who lives in our home.  This little project is one of my all time favorites.  I just laugh when I see their adorable illustrations!  Too funny.

The last great project of the week was from Caitlin over at Kindergarten Smiles
Kindergarten teachers love teaching: A dot is a lot!!!!  I think my kinders got it after completing this adorable glue apple project.
We had to add some red glitter to really glam it up.
The green dots are a little secret....

Colorful Wordwall

School started a week ago, and I finally found some time to put up my word wall!  I am really happy with how colorful it turned out.  I chose blue and green paper and had them laminated.  I printed out my zebra alphabet circles, and hung them up!  I put up our first two words yesterday.  Just in time!

Check out my word wall pack in my store!

Jungle Back to School Find

I am back to work tomorrow :(    I had to do all of my back to school shopping this past week!  I really didn't have as much time as I wanted though!  One of my favorite finds was at Walmart.  I was picking up supplies for my daughter to go back to school, and found myself adding my own things to the cart.  Since I have a jungle theme, I had to have these clip boards!  So cute.

I really wanted more, but I kept myself under control.  I also added this cute mini stapler.  My kinder kids love to staple!  We will see how long it lasts, hopefully more than a month!

I also have tons of laminating to cut!  Here are my cute little name tags I will be using this year.  Head over to my store to pick these up!  My little trick is.... I hot glue them to the table.  Just a dot of glue right in the middle.  It holds for weeks, and can be scraped right off the table with ease.

Click here to find these in my store.
This is one the posters included with the name tags!

Fun Little Class Book Idea for Numbers

I created this little class book template for my students to use when we start the year.  We focus on numbers 1-20 for the first quarter.  Even though, there are many kids who are ready to be challenged with higher numbers.

Perfect math center, or whole group activity!  I laminate this fun little book when they are finished!  It goes right into our classroom library to read over and over again!

I print my pages out on cardstock paper so it is nice and sturdy.  Each kid gets a page with a number.  They have to illustrate, or glue on items to match their number.  I made 3 of these books last year.  One book had pictures from magazines glued into it, the second book had those fun puffy stickers on the pages, our third book had illustrations (my personal favorite!)

When we come back to school (which is right around the corner)  I always like to have my students complete these Little Me Books.  I usually give them out at Open House night, this way I can explain to parents what the directions are.  I encourage my parents to help students complete these.

When they bring them back I have students take turns sitting in our "Author's Chair" and they share their books.  They are usually BEAMING when it is their turn.  We keep these little books in basket in our classroom library.  They are the most popular thing for them to read all year long!

Come to my Store and pick up one of these books for your classroom

Fun DIY Frame Project

Summer is a time when I love to get crafty!  Today my daughter and I worked on frames!  These are the easiest, and inexpensive projects ever!

We made this fun little frame for our dog Coopers's picture!  I can't wait to make one for my classroom next!

Supplies Needed: an unfinished wooden frame.  You can pick this up at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, etc.  Under $5.
*Paint (We used a fun lime green)
*Letter Stickers (We used a nice thick navy blue)
*Ribbon, I used 1 thick and one thin, and over lapped them.
*Stencil for the paw print.
*Puffy Glitter (We went around the picture hole with dots)
*Small scrap of scrapbooking paper ,for the heart, and we used a raised glue dot so it really sticks out).

Time Needed:  1-2 hours.

Total Cost: $6  (Not too shabby for my teacher's budget)

First Week of Kindergarten Freebie and Fun Pics

I love to take fun pictures of my Kinder Kids throughout the school year.  Every parent wants a special keepsake from the first week of school! For this picture, I usually do the writing on a marker board and have them hold it.  I should include the year, but I don't always remember to do this :)

I usually print these out and glue it to a fun little beginning of the year page for students to decorate.  It makes a special keepsake for parents!  Here is the certificate I use.....

Here is an example of a picture I glue on the first week of school certificate!

I take pictures for their Valentine's Day paper too.  They do the writing on the marker board for this project!

Here is an example of the pictures I take for their parent's Christmas cards.  I they sign their own names on the marker board.  I blocked off some letters on this example.

Summer and Ice Cream Fun!

It is finally summer break!  I have actually put my computer away for the past 2 weeks so I could enjoy time with my own kids :)   Summer goes too fast for me!  Now I am back to work, creating like all teachers do during their summers!

One of my favorite summer treats is.....ICE CREAM CONES!  The first month of school we usually do some sort of name project and talk about the letters in our names.  Then we sort them according to the number of letters in their names.  I decided to create this cute little ice cream cone project for this next school year!
Click here to get this ICE CREAM project!

My students get to color and decorate the scoops of ice cream for their cones.  It will be perfect for counting letters in their names.  Since it will be the beginning of the year, and my kinders are just barely writing letters, I will probably let them do the coloring, then I will take a sharpie and write their letters really large on each scoop.  I will mix up their scoops and have them put the letters in the names back in order, now they can glue!  There is also a fun graphing page included!  I have higher kids that will really love comparing our results!

Now I am off to the store to get more ice cream for me!  Happy Summer!!!!

Let's get acquainted Linky

I am linking up with Mrs. Reed over at Flying into First Grade! This is her first linky party, and in my opinion one of the best ideas!

The rules: share 3 things about yourself that you like or like to do using your initials.

K-     Kindergarten is the grade I currently teach.  I have taught Kinder for 7 years, along with a few years in first grade!

M-   Mom!  I am a mom to two beautiful children ages 11 and 7, and a playful puppy!

S-     Summer!   My favorite season!  I do NOT like winter. Since I live in the midwest and see a ton of snow, I always look forward to hot, sunny days to spend with my family!
